NYC Zombie Crawl & Free Screening of Zombieland on Wednesday, September 30th!

Get geared up for the ghoul and goblin season by zombifying yourself this Wednesday! NYC Zombie Crawl is teaming up with Sony Pictures to present a special sneak peak of the new movie Zombieland with Woody Harrelson! The brain-eating group will be crawling through Times Square to the AMC Empire Theater (234 West 42nd Street, between 8th and Broadway) at 9pm. You can only get into the free screening if you are a zombie!

To get zombified, meet at the first stop, The Mean Fiddler (266 W 47th St, New York, NY 10036), from 6pm-8pm. The first stop is all ages and everyone can join on the crawl, but the movie is Rated R, so you must be 17 or older to get in.

Everyone is encouraged to come as zombies to the event. There will be zombie technicians on hand at the first stop to help zombifiy any remaining civilians, though!

Zombieland hits theaters nationwide on Friday, October 2nd. BUT- this is your only chance to see it early and for FREE! And, the site mentioned that you might even meet some stars of the movie!

NYC Blood Manor Haunted House FREE Today (Wed. 9/16)!! 


Hey all you horror hounds! This news is for those of you who reside in the good old Big Apple. Tonight (Wed, 9/16), the haunted house Blood Manor is doing their dress rehearsal run-through. The good news for all you ghouls out there looking to get hyped up for Halloween is that this means it's a FREE event! The haunted house will open at 7:30 for you to get your scare on. It is only going on for about an hour, so I recommend getting there early as to not get cut off.

On Tuesday September 15th at 7:00 p.m. Dark Delicacies will host a signing for the DVD release of both Fear Itself and the DVD release of Grace.

The complete television season of Fear Itself is being released including multiple episodes never aired are included in the 4-disc package. Scheduled to be on hand for the signing are Writers Steve Niles, Victor Salva & Del Howison. Have a Zombie Film? Submit it to the Zombie Outbreak Film Fest!
Horror Society has announced a call for entries for their "Zombie Outbreak Film Festival!" As the title implies, the festival is dedicated to the brain-eating disgustingness that is the zombie with 8 hours of nothing but zombie films. Horror Society is asking you to send them your zombie films, shorts, documentary, or music video featuring the walking dead no later than October 14, 2009. Fees are only $20 for a short and $25 for a feature length film.

The big feature at the festival is set to be Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead. And, special guest Lloyd Kaufman will be at the festival! It is taking place in Chicago, IL at the Portage Theater at 4050 N. Milwaukee Ave. The 8 hours of decay will be going on from 5pm to 1am. Zombie Crawl in San Jose: Wed. Aug 26, 2009
If you live around the San Jose, CA area, get out to their Zombie-O-Rama zombie crawl today at 6pm! The rally point will be at "Gore Park" (currently known as Parque De Los Pobladores at the corner of First and Williams Streets).

Before the crawl begins, there will be a zombies art show at 4pm. And, after the crawl, there will be an outdoor showing of Shaun of the Dead (scheduled to begin around 7:45).

Rue Morgue's Festival of Fear is this Weekend
(Aug 28-30)!


The Festival of Fear is "Canada's National Horror Expo," and is going on this coming Friday (Aug 28th) through Sunday (Aug 30th). There are plenty of events scheduled, including a screening of "My Name is Bruce," a meet & greet with "Laid to Rest" stars Thomas Dekker, Nick Principe & Robert Hall, and a workshop on how to make a short horror film. There will also be a meet & greet with "Stan Helsing" stars Leslie Nielsen, Kenan Thompson, and Didra Baird! The "Guest of Honour" for the show is Bruce Cambell, with the "Featured Guest" being Roger Corman.

SCARE for a CURE and Blood Center Team Up for Bat Fest this Saturday (Aug 22nd)!

This coming Saturday, Volunteers from SCARE for a CURE are teaming up with The Blood and Tissue Center of Central Texas to help process willing "victims" during the 5th Annual Bat Fest!

Bat Fest 2009 runs from 1pm until 12am on Saturday, August 22nd. The festival features arts and crafts by local vendors, live music, food, bat watching, children activities and educational displays, all to help the bats!

The "blood bus" will be present from 1-6pm during the festival for people to donate blood. The SCARE crew will be on site helping blood donors throughout the day. All blood donors will receive a discount coupon for SCARE for a CURE'S haunted house, "Blood Ritual," in October. They will also be entered into a drawing to win free tickets to the event!

Third Time's The Harm! To celebrate the joyous Halloween season, Exhumed Films proudly presents the third annual 24 Hour Horror-thon: a full 24 hour marathon of nonstop horror mayhem! We'll start at noon on Saturday and go straight through until noon on Sunday. As always, the lineup of films is being kept secret--people who come to the show will only find out what the features are as they unspool onto the screen. The show will be a combination of some of the biggest horror titles of the last 30 years or so mixed with some really rare gems. Plus we'll run tons of classic trailers, shorts, and other oddities. Can you stay awake for the entire 24 hours? Who will survive, and what will be left of them? Be here on October 24th to find out!

This year's show will also a feature a horror themed art show in the lobby!!

ALL THE COLORS OF THE DARK: A Collection of prints inspired by the dark corners of 42nd street. Prints from 24 artist will be displayed in the lobby of a makeshift grindhouse for one full day during Exhumed Film's Horror-thon.

On Sunday August 23rd at 2:00 p.m. Dark Delicacies will host a signing with Author Shilpa Agarwal at the Burbank Central Library.

Shilpa will be signing her new book Haunting Bombay. This signing is another in partnership between Dark Delicacies and the Burbank Public Library system. Some of the proceeds from this signing go to the Burbank Library system during this time of much needed monies due to budget cuts.

Imagine what it would be like to go to one event and meet so many top stars and celebrities of the horror and paranormal communities. The staff and volunteers are so excited about ScareFest 2009. We have made it bigger and better than last year by expanding our event. We have doubled our conference size to host more stars and guest speakers, dealer booths, seminar rooms, and added a concession stand with tables and chairs for our guests to sit and rest while taking a break to chow down.
For added fun to your weekend at ScareFest, you may want to consider coming dressed in your favorite horror costume or as your favorite celebrity or character. We want you to have fun and get lots of photos taken of your creation while you are at ScareFest. While you are there you can also enter the costume contest being held during the Costume Ball. Will you be the one to go away as the winner of ScareFest 2009 Costume Contest.
We will also have an Undead Wedding winner. This is going to be an annual event for people to get married at ScareFest. Fire Evil Lizard will be doing the Zombie make-up for the bride and groom. How fun is that? If you don't win the major prize and you still want to get married at ScareFest we will be doing ceremonies all day on Saturday.

Zompire: The Undead Film Festival is this Weekend
(may 15 – 17)!


If you live around the Portland, OR area, make sure to get out to the Zompire Film Festival this weekend. Movies will be shown throughout the whole weekend, including Planet of the Vampires and Day of the Dead. Director Kerry Prior will be joining the festival on Saturday to introduce the advance screening of his new film The Revenant.
