Comcast and NBCUniversal Join The Greater Philadelphia Film Office To Announce Support For 2013 “Set In Philadelphia” Prime Time Award For Screenwriting

(Philadelphia) January 28, 2013- Comcast and NBCUniversal today joined with the Greater Philadelphia Film Office (GPFO) to announce that the two companies will sponsor the 2013 TV Prime Time Award as part of the “Set In Philadelphia” (SIP) Screenwriting Competition.

The winner of the Prime Time Award, which was created to encourage TV Production in the Philadelphia region, will receive a $5,000 cash prize, along with other cool industry insider prizes. Winners will be announced during the Philadelphia Film Festival in the fall of 2013.

The Prime Time Award is one of four cash prizes that will be announced during the Philadelphia Film Festival this fall. Other prizes include Grand Prize for Best Screenplay, The Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce Regional Award and The Student Award, sponsored by Robert McKee’s Story Seminar.

“Set In Philadelphia” is an international screenwriting competition that has been managed and presented by the GPFO’s community outreach program Greater Philadelphia Filmmakers since 2001. The competition is open to all screenwriters who submit an original feature length screenplay or TV script set primarily in the Greater Philadelphia region. Scripts are judged on their overall quality, and the extent to which they tell a genuine “Philadelphia story.” The deadline to submit for the Prime Time TV award is March 1st Early Deadline ($45 application fee) and April 1st as the Final Deadline ($65 application fee).
